Collpas
From PiqqoWiki
Collpas sites (a Quechua word meaning salty earth) are places visited by animals to eat soil material and so complement their mineral diet. This habit of eating regular doses of earth is known scientifically as geophagy. The most frequent elements of such sites are sodium, calcium, magnesium and potassium. These locations range in size from a few meters to several hundred meters in diameter.
Many humans, such as Andean villagers, used to eat earth to counter the toxic effects of some varieties of wild potato. Similarly, some of the Amazon tribes also used to include earth from the clay licks in their regular diet.
