Catchment area
From PiqqoWiki
Catchment area is an extent of land where water from rain and melting snow or ice drains downhill into a body of water, such as a river, lake, wetland, sea or ocean. The catchment area includes both the streams and rivers that convey the water as well as the land surfaces from which water drains into those channels. As water flows over the ground and along rivers it can pick up nutrients, sediment, and also pollutants. This is why it is crucial to pay attention to the watershed development, initiate plantation, soil and water conservation works in these areas.
